The Quarterly Church Content Review Process

Published October 18, 2027 • By Swapp Team

Your church app is often the first place people go to find service times, events, ministry information, contact details, and ways to get involved. But content can quickly become outdated as schedules change, events end, and ministries evolve. A quarterly church content review provides a simple, repeatable way to keep your app accurate and helpful.

By setting aside time every three months, your team can identify issues before they confuse members or discourage visitors. This process also helps your church app reflect current priorities and provide a better digital experience for everyone.

1. Review Upcoming and Past Events

Start by checking your church calendar and event pages. Remove events that have ended, update recurring activities, and confirm that dates, times, locations, and registration details are correct. Pay special attention to seasonal programs, holiday services, conferences, and volunteer opportunities.

Past events should not remain prominently displayed unless they provide useful information, such as recordings or helpful resources. Keeping your event listings current makes it easier for people to know what is happening next.

2. Test Links and Forms

Broken links can prevent people from registering for an event, donating, joining a group, or contacting a ministry. Click through important buttons and links in your church app, including registration forms, giving pages, livestreams, social media profiles, and resource downloads.

Check that forms are still accepting responses and that submissions reach the correct staff member or ministry leader. Fix or remove links that no longer serve a purpose.

3. Improve Unclear Descriptions

Read ministry and program descriptions from the perspective of someone who is new to your church. Is it immediately clear who the ministry serves, what it offers, and how someone can take the next step? Replace vague language with concise, welcoming descriptions.

Use consistent terminology throughout the app. For example, decide whether your church refers to small groups as groups, life groups, or community groups, and use that wording consistently.

4. Remove Duplicate Pages and Add Missing Contacts

Duplicate pages can make your church app feel disorganized and force users to compare multiple versions of the same information. Combine overlapping content and direct users to one reliable page.

Confirm that every ministry includes an accurate contact method. Add a current email address, phone number, or contact form so visitors and members know exactly where to ask questions.

5. Compare Content With Current Ministry Needs

Finally, meet with ministry leaders to identify changes in programs, staffing, audiences, and communication priorities. A quarterly review is more than a proofreading task—it is an opportunity to ensure your church app supports the way your church currently serves people.
